Honey, I Love You Dearly

Dear... Honey, I Love You Dearly

Dear You,

Hi. How have you been lately? I know things are rough, but you're strong and I know you can get through this. Your hopelessness does not define you, and your worthlessness is not your one defining characteristic.

The thoughts keep persisting, you've wanted to end things since day one. Please take your loved ones into consideration before taking your opportunities away from yourself. There's so much to live for and experience - music, art, poetry, science, math, philosophy, connections, words, memories, love, and so much more. Save yourself so that you won't have to write this letter again.

Depression will find its way into every thought and emotion you have, every dream you've dreamt and every star you'll ever wish upon. Count the days when you're alive and you'll never wish that you were gone.
Depression will suck the life out of you, and it slowly swallows you whole as the things you used to love become nightmares, a lost or broken thought that somehow ends up being the reason why you're standing next to the highway, or why the bottle of pills is still in your hand, or why the blade in your drawer gets another turn to try and wake you up again. But the nightmare never ends. It lives with you, it breathes down your neck whenever you want to make a decision, it's unavoidable.

I'm sorry you have to deal with depression. Please talk to someone and get help so you don't have to write this letter ever again.

Your suicide note is a bunch of weird ramblings in a mix of song lyrics and persisting thoughts.

I hope you have a good night at 3:34 AM next to the highway tonight. Don't forget the flashlight and the bottle of pills. Maybe take the blade for good measure.

From... you in the future
