A Poem of the Moon

Dear... A Poem of the Moon

Oh, moon,
My dearest friend.
Have you come out,
To play again?

You dance through the night,
With not a care in the world,
And the stars follow closely behind,
Through the night as you twirl.

I chase you around,
All night and day.
But you always seem,
To swiftly slip away.

And the thing I want most,
My one true wish,
Is to capture your beauty,
So much as just one glimpse.

Oh and the stars, you see,
Whispered wonders of you.
They followed closely behind,
As their admiration grew and grew.

And of course the ocean as well,
Knew just how perfect you are,
And he mirrored your image,
Watching close, yet from afar.

Only the moon knows,
All my horrors and fears,
For the moon knows all my secrets,
And dries all my tears.

But the moon will never let show,
The sadness she holds inside.
She holds back her own tears,
And tosses her worries aside.

She comforts those around her,
Making their sadness be no more,
But with no one there for her,
Her heart is both broken and sore.

So as she travels through the night,
Seeming as perfect as can be,
She hides her true sadness.
And I know this, for the moon is none other than me.
